Apotheosis

Vietnamese women's position has been evolved in a complex background of multi-fold social upheavals from Confucianism society to communist traditionalism. They are torn trying to balance the traditional idea of virtuous women and the responsibility to provide for their family in the context of modernity. This sacrificial nature is glorified and celebrated within Vietnam society yet a hidden "double exploitation” under the honour of heroism if one

to look at it precisely. Their image has become the representation of Vietnam as devoted mothers, dutiful wives, diligent workers and courageous fighters. The apotheosised view of women disallows the realisation that they are only human beings who also have their own dream and desire. Why don't we want to admit that these women are tired of trying to fit in this heroic statue?
